Baby Pixie Bonnets

Babies are so fun to crochet for. It’s all so adorable, and this free pattern for a newborn pixie bonnet is no exception. The short amount of time that it takes to finish an adorable and cozy little hat is so worth it, despite the fact that they’ll grow out of it almost as fast.

I know four couples who are expecting wee ones this spring and summer. How exciting! I fell in love right away with the design of this little pixie hat, so I decided to make a few of them to give to the expectant parents.

I don’t know the sex of these babies yet. At least two of them will be a mystery until they’re born. That’s such a fun surprise, and a great way to avoid ending up with a pile of only-pink or onlyblue baby gifts.

I’m pretty sure these will look awesome on a little boy or a little girl. The pixie bonnet is a free pattern from Shara Lambeth Designs. I altered it a bit by adding an edging (1 row sc, 1 row reverse sc) and reinforcing the ties with slip stitches. This pattern quickly became a favorite and will be used again and again!
